Frequently Asked Questions
What is miraDry?
miraDry is a revolutionary nonsurgical treatment for excessive underarm sweat.
How does miraDry work?
miraDry delivers thermal energy to sweat glands, destroying them permanently. The procedure takes around an hour and, in many cases, only needs to be performed once.
How long does it take miraDry to work?
A 2012 clinical study demonstrated an average perspiration decline of 82 percent immediately after treatment. However, the percentage of reduction varies somewhat from patient to patient.
Is miraDry permanent?
Once destroyed, sweat glands can’t come back. Most people experience dramatic sweat reduction after just one treatment. Others may need to return to our Nashua or Andover office for a followup treatment.
Is miraDry painful?
Local anesthetic is used during the procedure to ensure comfort. Some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort may be present for a few days after the procedure. Dr. Chatson will discuss aftercare before your treatment and during any followup visits. He will also be available after treatment should you have questions of concerns.
How long does it take to recover from miraDry treatment?
Recovery varies from patient to patient, but most are able to resume normal activities within 24 hours and more vigorous exercises as soon as swelling subsides. Following Dr. Chatson’s pre and post-treatment instructions will help improve recovery time.
Am I a good miraDry candidate?
If you suffer from embarrassing underarm sweat, you may be the ideal miraDry candidate. Please contact George P. Chatson, M.D. at 603-882-2103 in and around Nashua, or 978-687-1151 in the Andover, MA area to schedule a consultation and find out.
