In some cases, sagging eyelid skin may obstruct vision. If vision obstruction has become a medical issue, blepharoplasty might be covered by your insurance provider. It is, however, always best to check with your insurer before relying on this method of payment.
Am I a Good Eyelid Lift Candidate?
The best candidates for eyelid surgery are women and men who are unhappy with the appearance of their eyelids or the area immediately surrounding the eyes. The best candidates are also:
- Nonsmokers who are in generally good health
- Able to take time off for a short recovery period
- Aware of all possible risks and complications
- Realistic in their expectations
Eyelid surgery can help produce a better rested, more alert, and more youthful appearance, but it is not designed to remove crow’s feet or to lift sagging eyebrows. For these purposes, you may need to combine blepharoplasty with a non-surgical option such as BOTOX® Cosmetic. Droopy eyelids can also be addressed through a forehead lift.
